We know there are a lot of policies to navigate when planning a Girl Scout money-earning activity! To help clear up confusion and make planning easier, we’ve created this handy list of what is not permitted. Please review these guidelines before submitting your activity for council approval.
By submitting this application, we acknowledge that we have reviewed and agree to follow these guidelines:
- Do not sell commercial products outside council-approved product programs.
- Do not endorse or promote businesses through Girl Scout activities, including home-sales parties or paid flyer distribution.
- Do not hold restaurant percentage nights or sell concessions on behalf of another business or organization.
- Do not conduct raffles, drawings, 50/50, bingo, other games of chance, or auctions.
- Do not use GoFundMe, Kickstarter, crowdfunding, or other online fundraising platforms outside the approved Digital Cookie platform.
- Do not solicit cash donations without providing goods or services, except through specifically approved Highest Award fundraising.
- Do not raise money directly for another organization. Troops may choose to donate a portion of existing troop funds.
- Do not use cookie-booth tip jars for troop donations. “Keep the change” contributions must support the council’s cookie donation program.
- Do not represent gifts made directly to a troop as tax-deductible. Tax-deductible gifts must be processed through council.
- Do not designate Arizona charitable tax-credit gifts for an individual troop or Girl Scout.
- Do not treat troop earnings as an individual Girl Scout’s personal money. Funds belong to the troop and support its Girl Scout activities.
- Do not transfer troop donations or money-earning proceeds to a personal account for personal use or safekeeping. Legitimate reimbursements for troop expenses must follow council procedures and be supported by receipts.
We understand that submitting an application does not constitute approval. We must receive written council approval before advertising or conducting the activity.
